The Hearnes and Linaje Escogido

During a mission trip to Honduras several years ago, the founding members of MHM were introduced to Peter and Martita Hearne. Peter, a U.S. citizen, met Martita while serving in the Peace Corps during his college years. He fell in love with the country, and then with Martita, who was raised in La Villa. There the Hearnes raised their six children, today ranging in age from the teens to late twenties. If you knew the Hearnes, you would recognize immediately why MHM was founded, as they exemplify everything good and worthwhile about mission work and ministry for people in need.

The Hearnes are the founders and guiding leaders of Linaje Escogido (Chosen People) Church, an evangelical congregation who sponsor several ministries in La Villa and the nearby community of San Nicolas.

The Hearnes also serve as the local hosts for MHM-sponsored mission teams that travel to Honduras several times a year.  They seem almost inexhaustible in their enthusiasm for taking La Villa for Christ!  We are honored to have them as our partners in ministry.
