SAN NICOLAS FEEDING CENTER

The Children’s Feeding Center in San Nicolas, a community which is about ten miles from La Villa, has been operating since 2012.  San Nicolas is located near the city dump for Comayagua, and many of the families and children spend time each week sorting through the refuse hoping to salvage usable items.

Currently, about 60 children are receiving meals that are prepared by mothers in the community using supplies donated by Linaje Escogido Church.  The meals are served three times a week.

The children also receive periodic medical check-ups.

SAN NICOLAS KINDERGARTEN SCHOOL

The Kindergarten in San Nicolas just opened a new building in February of 2015.  It replaced the original school/feeding center in San Nicolas because they outgrew the first building.  The center currently has 14 children enrolled in the Kindergarten class.  The kindergarten prepares the children for First Grade in the public school.  The children are expected to pass an entrance exam to attend public school.  This Kindergarten class enables the children to pass that exam and allows them an opportunity to attend public school that they would not have had otherwise.
