COVID Relief Update

The members of the Milk and Honey Board would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have donated to help our friends in Honduras. They are able to help more people with the donations that have been given.

We do not know how long the people in Honduras will stay in a "locked-down" state, but because of this: the Feeding Centers are closed, a lot of people do not have jobs to go to, food prices are continually rising, medicine is rising and hard to get, items needed for the clinic are in short supply, etc.

Elvis, Cindy, Dr. Gisella, and many others continue to help our friends. They find food and supplies and then deliver these packages to the people who need them. They provide necessary treatment with what little they have. They give hope to these people. They bring joy and God's message of love.

If you have even $12 to give to help 1 family receive 2 bags of supplies/month, please consider donating it. If you are able to donate more to help with other needs, we would certainly appreciate it and so would our friends.

If you are receiving these emails, then you have either been to Honduras and have seen the conditions first hand in non-Covid19 times or you have donated in the past and know someone who is connected to this beautiful place.

Please consider any amount of a donation. Use the link below or go to our website: milkandhoneymissions.org

If you are on hard times yourselves, we are so sorry and certainly understand. Will you consider sending a prayer?

I am adding the Newsletter from May that Jane Neuman wrote. Not a lot has changed, except for more cases and a lot more crowded hospitals and now Denge fever has hit as well.

We are now helping the community of El Varillal with supplies.

Once again, we thank each and every one of you for taking time to say a prayer and think of our beautiful family in Honduras.

Matthew 25:44 - 45

"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'"

May 2020 Newsletter:

As of recent news, there are approximately 1200 Covid-19 cases in Honduras with most centered in the San Pedro Sula area. The country has imposed extremely strict quarantine measures with people allowed to leave their homes only every other week (based on the last digit of their ID#) for essential services. Businesses require masks, hand sanitizer and a temperature check for everyone entering. Authorities will stop people and check their ID#'s to verify their permission to be out of their homes. The economic situation is becoming more difficult. The largest contributor to the Honduran economy is remittances from the US. Many of the workers in the US who send funds home to Honduras have been displaced from their jobs. Additionally, of those who have employment in Honduras, more than half are casual laborers and most of these jobs have completely evaporated under these circumstances. Villa San Antonio is "locked down" with only people who live there allowed to enter. All roads have checkpoints where identification is checked and both people and vehicles receive a "chlorine bath" before entering.

Yet, amidst this misery, blessings are emerging. Cindy and Elvis have obtained a special permit from the mayor to move freely at any time. Cindy has used all of her shopping skills to arrange a steady food supply that she is able to deliver to the approximately 120 families who normally depend on the feeding centers in the Villa and San Nicolás along with the seniors who cannot provide for themselves. Dr. Gisela and her staff continue to provide their unique combination of medical and spiritual care at Clínica Samuel. The library and scholarship students are inventing new ways to study and learn. Peter and Peter Isaac have adapted to virtual church by combining the 2 churches they serve into a Facebook Live service on Sunday morning.

If you are inspired by these stories and blessings, we could use your help. We would like to be able to buy more food and supplies for the families that are depending on us. Dr. Gisela reports the need for more medicine and has additional expenses for masks and other protective equipment. Please donate using the button below if you can bless our Honduran family as they have blessed us with their creativity and dedication.
